Plates for a long table 1972

The series of plates exhibited in his workshop in Casapueblo won him the recognition and admiration of the most respected critics of the time.
It is worth to remark a paragraph that Carlos Páez Vilaró included in the "Exhibition Catalogue".

"I’m going to set the table with all my plates. A table covered with a "cardumen" cloth, as long as the route to the sun I follow each evening at sunset, in the open stage of my workshop that overlooks the sea.
Each place will have an identifying card for the guests because it is a very special dinner.
I hope to have close to me all the friends that I met and embraced during my long journeys, beyond age and races,
professions and ideas, from sunrise to moonrise, from lunchtime to dinnertime.
A table without cutlery.
I wish my guests to enjoy my endless circular table, round and different, without considering seats of honor, as if it has been
laid around the world’s belly, a greedy fat world, which is now far from the macrobiotic science, always suffering from war effects and self interests".

(It is worth to remark a paragraph that Carlos Páez Vilaró included in the "Exhibition Catalogue).

African Series 1998-2000

Carlos Páez Vilaró made these series of works to show his gratitude to the black continent.
The strong attraction that he had always felt during his life is represented in the ceramics where he transferred his ideas and beliefs on the tribal symbols.
His pots are filled with the mysterious sound of the heating drums and of the songs and dances of the jungle, bathed by the
moonlight.
